Why Workers Strike in 2026: Causes, Impacts, and Outcomes

Why Workers Strike in 2026: Causes, Impacts, and  Outcomes

Darlene Clattenburg | Liquid Sunshine Spray Tan |June 6, 2026

Strikes have been part of the workforce for generations. In 2026, workers across various industries

Strike at Community Living Central York 2026

continue to organize strikes to demand better wages, improved working conditions, job security, and fair treatment from employers.

Whether it's healthcare workers, teachers, transportation employees, manufacturing workers, or public service employees, strikes remain one of the most powerful tools workers have when negotiations break down.

But why do people strike? Who benefits? Who suffers? And are strikes still necessary in today's economy?

"Workers strike when they believe negotiations with their employer have broken down and collective action is needed to improve wages, benefits, working conditions, or workplace safety."

What Is a Strike?

A strike occurs when a group of employees temporarily stops working to pressure an employer during a labor dispute. Strikes are often organized by unions but can also occur when workers collectively decide they have exhausted other options.

The goal is usually simple: encourage employers to return to the bargaining table and negotiate a solution that addresses workers' concerns.

Why Do Workers Strike?

While every strike is different, most occur for one or more of the following reasons:

1. Wages That Don't Keep Up With Costs

One of the most common reasons workers strike is compensation.

As housing costs, groceries, transportation, and utilities continue to rise, many employees feel their wages are no longer keeping pace with the cost of living. Workers may seek salary increases that help them maintain their standard of living and financial stability.

2. Working Conditions

Employees often strike when they believe their workplace has become unsafe, understaffed, or overly demanding.

Common concerns include:

  • Excessive workloads

  • Staff shortages

  • Safety risks

  • Mandatory overtime

  • Burnout

Workers may argue that improving conditions benefits both employees and customers.

3. Benefits and Job Security

Health benefits, pensions, paid leave, and retirement plans are frequent topics during labor negotiations.

Workers may strike if they believe existing benefits are being reduced or if they fear layoffs, outsourcing, or automation could threaten long-term job security.

4. Respect and Fair Treatment

Not all strikes are about money.

Employees sometimes strike because they feel unheard, undervalued, or treated unfairly. Workplace culture, management practices, and employee morale can all contribute to labor disputes.

Why Are Strikes Still Happening in 2026?

Technology has changed how we work, but many workplace challenges remain the same.

In 2026, several factors continue to fuel labor disputes:

  • Inflation and rising living costs

  • Housing affordability concerns

  • Worker shortages in key industries

  • Increased workloads

  • Growing awareness of employee rights

  • Debates surrounding remote and flexible work arrangements

Many workers believe striking remains one of the few ways to gain public attention and encourage meaningful negotiations.

Who Suffers During a Strike?

The reality is that strikes often create challenges for everyone involved.

Workers

Employees who strike may lose wages while they are off the job. Financial stress can increase, especially if a strike lasts for weeks or months.

Employers

Businesses can experience lost productivity, reduced revenue, project delays, and reputational damage. Recruiting and retaining employees may also become more difficult.

Customers and the Public

Depending on the industry, strikes can disrupt services, create delays, and inconvenience customers. Transportation delays, healthcare disruptions, and supply chain issues are common examples.

Local Communities

When large employers are affected, surrounding businesses may also experience reduced economic activity.

Who Wins During a Strike?

The answer is not always straightforward.

Successful strikes can lead to:

  • Better wages

  • Improved benefits

  • Safer workplaces

  • Stronger employee protections

  • Improved morale

However, not every strike achieves all of its goals.

In many cases, the final agreement is a compromise where both workers and employers make concessions. The true success of a strike is often measured by whether both sides can reach a sustainable long-term solution.

Are Strikes Good or Bad?

There is no simple answer.

Supporters argue that strikes protect workers' rights and help create fairer workplaces. Critics argue that strikes can harm businesses, customers, and the economy.

The reality is that strikes are often a symptom of unresolved issues rather than the problem itself. When communication and negotiations fail, strikes become a tool workers use to gain leverage and bring attention to their concerns.

The Future of Strikes

As workplaces continue to evolve, labor disputes will likely evolve as well.

Artificial intelligence, automation, remote work, and changing workforce expectations are creating new challenges for both employers and employees. Future strikes may focus not only on wages and benefits but also on technology, workplace flexibility, and employee wellbeing.

The most successful organizations will be those that prioritize communication, transparency, and collaboration before conflicts reach a breaking point.

Final Thoughts

Strikes have shaped workplaces for more than a century and remain a significant part of labor relations in 2026.

While strikes can be disruptive and costly, they often highlight deeper issues surrounding compensation, working conditions, and employee treatment. Understanding why workers strike helps employers, employees, and communities better navigate workplace challenges and work toward solutions that benefit everyone involved.

At their core, strikes are about one thing: workers seeking a stronger voice in decisions that affect their livelihoods, families, and futures.

Pancake Tuesday in Canada: The Sweet History Behind Shrove Tuesday

If you’ve ever found yourself eating pancakes on a Tuesday and thinking, “How did this become a thing?” — you’re not alone. Pancake Tuesday, also known as Shrove Tuesday, is

one of those traditions that feels cozy, indulgent, and slightly mysterious. In Canada, it’s embraced with open arms, full plates, and extra maple syrup (because… Canada).

Let’s break down where Pancake Tuesday came from, why we still celebrate it, and how it’s taken on its own delicious identity north of the border.

What Is Pancake Tuesday (Shrove Tuesday)?

Pancake Tuesday falls on the day before Ash Wednesday, marking the last day before Lent begins in the Christian calendar. Lent is traditionally a 40-day period of fasting or giving something up in preparation for Easter.

The word “shrove” comes from the old English word shrive, meaning to confess sins. Historically, this was a day for confession, reflection, and—let’s be honest—using up rich foods before a season of restraint.

And that’s where pancakes come in.

Why Pancakes?

Back in the day, households needed to use up ingredients that weren’t allowed during Lent—things like:

Sound familiar? Those are the exact ingredients needed to make pancakes. Instead of wasting them, families mixed everything together and cooked up stacks of pancakes. Practical, thrifty, and delicious. A triple win.

Over time, this simple act turned into a beloved tradition.

Pancake Tuesday in Canada: A Sweet Twist

While Pancake Tuesday originated in Europe, it made its way to Canada through early settlers, particularly from Britain and France. Canadians didn’t just adopt the tradition—we made it better.

Enter: maple syrup. ๐Ÿ

In Canada, Pancake Tuesday is often celebrated with:

  • Fluffy pancakes or crรชpes

  • Real Canadian maple syrup

  • Community pancake breakfasts

  • School and church events

  • Fundraisers and family gatherings

Many Canadian churches and community centres host pancake breakfasts as a way to bring people together before the start of Lent. Even for those who aren’t religious, Pancake Tuesday has become a fun cultural moment—an excuse to slow down and enjoy comfort food in the middle of winter.

Is Pancake Tuesday a Statutory Holiday in Canada?

Nope—sadly, you still have to work. But it is widely recognized across the country, especially in schools, churches, and family homes. Some schools even host pancake lunches, because learning is better when carbs are involved.

Pancake Tuesday vs. Mardi Gras: What’s the Difference?

Pancake Tuesday and Mardi Gras both fall on the same day and share the same roots. “Mardi Gras” literally means Fat Tuesday in French, referring to the indulgence before Lent.

The difference?

  • Mardi Gras = parades, beads, and big parties

  • Pancake Tuesday = cozy kitchens, family tables, and comfort food

Canada leans toward the pancake version. Less chaos, more syrup.

Why Pancake Tuesday Still Matters Today

In a fast-paced world, Pancake Tuesday reminds us of something simple:

It’s a tradition rooted in mindfulness, community, and not letting good ingredients—or good moments—go to waste.

And honestly? In the middle of a Canadian winter, a plate of warm pancakes feels like a hug.

Final Flip

Pancake Tuesday in Canada is more than just breakfast for dinner. It’s history, culture, and comfort wrapped in a golden stack. Whether you celebrate for religious reasons or just for the love of pancakes, one thing’s clear: this tradition isn’t going anywhere.

So pour the syrup, flip with confidence, and enjoy every bite. ๐Ÿฅž๐Ÿ

When You’re Drowning in “All the Things”: A Real Talk Moment for the Overwhelmed Business Woman

When You’re Drowning in “All the Things”

A Real Talk Moment for Overwhelmed Business Women

Liquid Sunshine Spray Tan | House of Sunless | Darlene Clattenburg | January 10, 2026
liquid Sunshine Spray Tan, Sunless Academy, Ontario

We wear many hats, & yes,
it gets overwhelming!

There comes a point in every woman’s business journey where she stares at her equipment, her empty calendar, and her to-do list and thinks,
“Why did no one warn me about this part?”

You take the spray tan course. You hear the promise:
“You can make X dollars a month!”

And honestly? It sounds incredible. The dream. The freedom. The transformation.

But the part they don’t say out loud?
The part every new beauty entrepreneur eventually learns on her own?

Learning the technique is one thing.     Building the business is a whole different beast.

The Reality Check No One Gives You

You graduate your course, high on excitement and DHA fumes.
You practice. You post. You try to sound confident online even when you’re secretly Googling, “Why is my overspray everywhere?”

Your tans don’t look like the ones on Instagram yet.
Your booking calendar is… well… let’s just say it isn’t exactly fighting for space.
You’re doing “all the right things,” but the clients aren’t coming.

And that’s when the fear creeps in.
That ugly voice whispers:
“Maybe you’re not cut out for this.”

You start eyeing your equipment
“Maybe I should sell it. Maybe this was a mistake.”

Let me tell you something from the trenches:
Every single woman in this industry has had that moment.
Not one of us started flawless, fully booked, or fearless.

The Problem Isn’t You—It’s the Lack of Guidance

It’s easy to teach someone how to spray.
It’s harder to teach them how to build a business from scratch.

And that’s what most training programs miss.

When you’re alone, trying to figure out:

  • Why your technique isn’t improving

  • Why your posts aren’t converting

  • Why people “love your content” but don’t book

  • Why your confidence keeps taking hits
    …it feels impossible.

Not because you’re not talented.
Not because you’re not capable.
But because you were never meant to do this alone.

Now Imagine This Instead…

What if you had a mentor?
Not someone who just throws you modules and says “good luck.”
But someone who actually sees you.
Someone who checks in.
Someone who teaches you technique, branding, client experience, and business strategy—not just how to hold a gun.
Someone who won’t let you quit on yourself.

What if you had someone in your corner saying:
“You’ve got this. Let me show you how.”

What would your life look like then?
Confidence replaces fear.
Structure replaces chaos.
Technique gets sharper.
Bookings start to roll in.
Your business stops feeling like a gamble and starts feeling like a future.

And most importantly?
You stop feeling like you’re walking this road alone.

The Truth Every Business Woman Needs to Hear

You don’t need to be perfect to succeed.
You don’t need to know everything on day one.
You don’t need to pretend you’re fine while quietly drowning.

You just need direction.
Support.
Training that goes deeper than a spray pattern.
A mentor who actually gives a damn about your success—your confidence—your financial freedom.

Because when you have that?
That’s when everything changes.

You don’t need to give up, boss lady.
You just need guidance worth having.

If this feels like you, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to figure it out by yourself.

On April 17, 2026, I’m hosting a guided session focused on real spray tan business foundations, technique, and custom colour theory—the things that actually bring confidence and consistency.

This isn’t a one-hour masterclass that fires you up and sends you back to overwhelm.
And it’s not a time grab followed by a push to buy something else.

This is support.

I’ll be there to fine-tune what you already know, clarify what you don’t, and help you build confidence where it matters most—behind the gun and in your business.

If you’re interested, email me for more information and I’ll share the details once registration opens.

Sometimes the difference between giving up and moving forward isn’t motivation—it’s mentorship.

The spray tan industry is booming — it’s low-barrier, high-demand, and an incredible way to turn a passion for beauty into a thriving business. But here’s the thing: many new spray tan artists jump in thinking clients will magically show up if they “post pretty pictures” or undercut prices.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Let’s Talk Truth About “Free Tans for Content”

When you’re just starting your spray tan business, it’s tempting to offer a few “free tans for content.”
The logic seems simple: I’ll get photos, exposure, and social media buzz — everyone wins, right?

Not so fast.

Without clear boundaries and agreements, your “content models” can quickly turn into brand headaches — using your before-and-after photos for other spray tan artists, promoting your competitors, or undercutting your brand before it’s even built.

That’s why understanding what a Brand Ambassador really is (and isn’t), how they differ from Affiliates, and how to protect yourself legally is essential for building a professional, profitable, and respected sunless spray tan business.

Gender Equality Week in Canada: What Can We Do Better?

Gender Equality Week in Canada -

What Can We Do Better?

Author: Darlene Clattenburg

September 21, 2025

Every year, from September 21 to 27, Canada observes Gender Equality Week—a time to reflect on the progress we’ve made, the challenges that remain, and the steps we can take, individually and collectively, to close the gap.

Equality is not just a buzzword; it’s the foundation for stronger families, healthier communities, and thriving businesses. Yet, even in 2025, we’re still facing barriers. Women—especially women of color, Indigenous women, newcomers, LGBTQ+ individuals, and those with disabilities—are often underrepresented in leadership roles, underpaid in the workforce, and undervalued in industries where they are the backbone.

So, what can we do better?

1. Normalize Equal Pay and Transparency:

Equal work deserves equal pay. Sounds simple, right? But wage gaps persist. Businesses—big and small—can commit to wage transparency, regularly reviewing pay scales to ensure fairness. As consumers, we can support organizations that openly value pay equity.

2. Invest in Women Entrepreneurs:

Canada is full of ambitious women starting small businesses, from tech to beauty to service industries. These entrepreneurs often face greater challenges accessing funding or mentorship. Supporting their ventures—whether by shopping local, booking their services, or recommending them to others—goes beyond a transaction. It’s an investment in gender equality.

3. Encourage Work-Life Balance for All Genders:

Caregiving shouldn’t be a women-only responsibility. Normalizing parental leave for fathers and encouraging flexible work for all helps dismantle the old mindset that domestic duties are “women’s work.” Equality in the workplace starts at home.

4. Create Safer Work and Community Spaces:

Gender equality includes feeling safe—in workplaces, schools, and communities. That means taking harassment seriously, believing survivors, and building cultures of respect. True equality cannot exist without safety and dignity.

5. Mentor, Train, and Lift Each Other Up:

One of the most powerful ways to support equality is through mentorship. Sharing knowledge, opening doors, and pulling others up with you helps build a future where leadership looks more diverse. As the saying goes: When women support women, incredible things happen.

6. Speak Up and Stay Informed:

Equality doesn’t happen in silence. We need to question outdated systems, call out bias when we see it, and advocate for inclusive policies. Education and awareness fuel action.

Why it matters:
Gender equality is not just a “women’s issue.” It’s a Canadian issue. A human issue. A stronger, fairer, and more prosperous future depends on it. During Gender Equality Week, let’s move beyond hashtags and lip service and ask ourselves:

๐Ÿ‘‰ What can I do—today, in my home, in my workplace, in my community—to help level the playing field?

Because the truth is, change doesn’t happen in one week of the year. It happens every day we choose equality over silence

Healthy Body, Healthy Business

Healthy Body, Healthy Business:

Mindset Shift You Can’t Afford to Ignore

Here’s the truth, boss: you can’t run a powerhouse business on an empty tank. You can have the slick branding, the strategy sessions, even the five-year plan — but if your health is in the gutter, your business will be too. Period.

Most entrepreneurs don’t even realize how much their physical and mental health is quietly sabotaging their growth. They think being tired all the time or running on stress is just “part of the grind.” Wrong. That grind is grinding you down, and it’s costing you money, clarity, and opportunities.

man with his head on the table
Burnout

When Your Health Tanks, So Does Your Business

Let’s call it like it is:

  • Dragging through your day? That’s not just exhaustion, that’s lost productivity and creativity.

  • Brain fog calling the shots? Strategic decisions don’t come from a cloudy mind.

  • Stress running the show? Burnout isn’t a badge of honor — it’s a business killer.

You may not even connect the dots, but an unhealthy body and an unhealthy mindset are directly affecting your bottom line.

Strong Mind + Strong Body = Strong Business

Now let’s flip the script. When you commit to your health, your business will notice — fast.

  • Energy becomes your superpower. Suddenly, systems, strategies, and events feel doable, not draining.

  • Creativity flows. With a clear head, you’ll start spotting opportunities and thinking outside the box like never before.

  • Confidence skyrockets. When you feel good in your own skin, it shows up in every pitch, partnership, and client interaction.

  • Resilience builds. A healthy mindset makes bouncing back from challenges faster and easier.

Bottom line: A strong business starts with a strong you.

Designing Your “Business Health Plan”

You wouldn’t ignore your business finances — so stop ignoring your business health. Here’s what a simple but powerful plan looks like:

  1. Fuel your body wisely. Ditch the crash-and-burn cycle of sugar and caffeine. Eat for energy, not just convenience.

  2. Move with purpose. Exercise isn’t optional — it’s the switch that turns on focus, stamina, and drive.

  3. Protect your rest. Sleep is not lazy; it’s a strategy. Rested brains make sharper decisions.

  4. Guard your mindset. Set boundaries. Take breaks. Fill your cup. A business built on burnout won’t last.

The Final Word

Think of your health as the most valuable system in your business. You can automate emails, outsource tasks, and streamline services, but there is no replacing you.

When your body and mind are aligned and energized, you’ll show up as the visionary your business actually needs — not the exhausted version just trying to make it through the day.

Your health isn’t a luxury. It’s Your edge. Protect it, invest in it, and watch Your business glow.

Why Your Spray Tan (and Your Skin) Secretly Wants Body Oil

Why Spray Tan
Liquid Sunshine Spray Tan & Training
Body Oil for faux Tans

(and Your Skin)

Secretly Wants Body Oil

Author: Darlene Clattenburg
September 20, 2025

Let’s be real: if you’ve got a spray tan, your skin care routine is officially on glow-protection duty. The biggest rule? Hydration. Hydrated skin = longer-lasting tans, smoother fades, and way less of that dreaded patchy look.

Most people reach for lotion (which is great, don’t stop), but let me spill the tea: body oils are the unsung heroes of tan care. They don’t just hydrate—they lock that glow down like Fort Knox.

Take Nuda Body Shimmer Oil—a luxe blend of Rosa Canina Fruit Oil, Rosa Rubiginosa Seed Oil, Rosa Eglanteria Seed Oil, Rosa Moschata Seed Oil.

GLOWSHIMMER is our lightweight, hydrating instant body highlighter that enhances your tan and perfectly complements your sunless tanning routine. Enriched with Aloe Vera and Grape Seed Oil, our glittery, silky body illuminator deeply moisturizes while caressing skin with a shimmery, sun-kissed, and golden glow. Leaves skin softly scented in sweet vanilla. DHA-free and dries in seconds to prevent transfer to clothing.

But don’t worry—this isn’t a one-oil show. There are plenty of spray tan–friendly oils and lotions that won’t sabotage your glow:

Spray Tan–Friendly Body Oils

  • Coconut Oil (organic, cold-pressed): Lightweight, natural, and leaves skin buttery soft.

  • Jojoba Oil: Mimics skin’s natural sebum (translation: your skin drinks it up without clogging pores).

  • Grapeseed Oil: Packed with antioxidants, plus it absorbs quickly (no “slip and slide” clothing disasters).

Spray Tan–Friendly Lotions

  • Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion: Fragrance-free, gentle, and hydrates without stripping.

  • CeraVe Moisturizing Cream: Dermatologist-approved, simple, and spray tan safe.

  • Coconut or Shea-based natural lotions (without mineral oil or heavy fragrance): Hydrate without breaking down your tan.

Remember: not all moisturizers are created equal. Avoid products with mineral oil, alcohol, or strong fragrances—they’re like little tan thieves that sneak in and steal your color.

Why Body Oils Deserve a Permanent Spot in Your Routine

๐Ÿ’ง Hydration That Actually Sticks Around
Lotions sometimes ghost you after a few hours. Body oils? They’re the ride-or-die. Massage it in, give it five minutes before dressing, and you’ll stay moisturized all day.

๐Ÿง˜ Stress-Proof Your Glow
When stress hits, your body plays favorites and sends nutrients to your brain and heart first. Your skin? Last in line. Add stress-induced free radicals and suddenly your glow looks tired. Vitamin-rich oils are like an extra shot of espresso—for your skin.

๐Ÿ’ธ More Bang for Your Buck
Oils may look pricier, but a little goes a long way. Warm a few drops in your hands and it spreads like silk. Think of it as “luxury on a budget”—fewer pumps, more coverage.

At Liquid Sunshine Spray Tan, we don’t believe in half-baked skincare. We specialize in luxe tanning solutions and vegan-certified skincare that actually does what it promises. Your tan deserves to last, your skin deserves to glow, and you deserve products that deliver both.

Because let’s face it: when your spray tan is glowing and your skin feels like velvet, you’re unstoppable. ✨

Spray Tan Safety Tips: A Professional’s Guide for Client & Spray Tan Artist

Spray Tan Safety Tips: A Professional’s Guide for Mobile Artists
Safety Checklist

Author | Darlene Clattenburg | Liquid Sunshine Spray Tan Society | August 2, 2024

Spray tanning has skyrocketed in popularity as the safe way to achieve that perfect glow. But whether you’re in a studio or bringing the tan directly to your client’s home, safety should always come first. Mobile spray tan artists face unique challenges, but with the right precautions, you can deliver flawless results while keeping everyone healthy. Let’s dive into the essentials of spray tan safety for professionals on the move.

Understanding the Basics of Spray Tan Safety

Whether you’re a seasoned spray tan pro or just starting your mobile service, these core tips keep your clients happy and their skin protected:

1. Skin Preparation

Before any tanning session, advise clients to exfoliate thoroughly. Removing dead skin cells creates a smooth canvas, ensuring an even, streak-free tan.

2. Protective Measures

Both you and your client should wear goggles and masks to prevent inhalation or contact with the tanning solution. Safety is glamorous too!

3. Ventilation

For mobile spray tanning, proper airflow is critical. Even in small home spaces, portable fans or open windows can help disperse the tanning mist, keeping the air clean and breathable.

Choosing the Right Products for Safe Tanning

Quality products are the backbone of safe, professional spray tanning. Keep these in mind:

  • Ingredient Check: Opt for tanning solutions free from harsh chemicals and allergens. Natural, skin-friendly ingredients reduce the risk of irritation.

  • Patch Testing: Always perform a patch test on a small area of skin to ensure your client won’t have an adverse reaction.

Mobile Spray Tan Safety Tips

Mobile spray tan artists face extra considerations since you’re setting up in different environments. Here’s how to stay safe on the go:

  1. Sanitize Equipment and Space: Carry disinfectants and wipes to clean spray guns, hoses, and any surfaces your client may touch.

  2. Secure Your Work Area: Protect floors, furniture, and fabrics with portable tarps or disposable sheets to prevent accidental stains.

  3. Control the Mist: Use adjustable spray booths or shields when possible to keep the solution contained and prevent overspray in confined spaces.

  4. Client Comfort: Make sure there’s enough ventilation and room to move, especially in smaller homes or apartments.

Post-Treatment Care: Keeping the Glow Safe

The session doesn’t end when the spray gun shuts off. Post-care is crucial for skin health and tan longevity:

  • Hydration: Encourage clients to moisturize daily. Well-hydrated skin keeps the tan smooth and long-lasting.

  • Avoid Irritants: Tell clients to skip hot showers, saunas, and vigorous exercise immediately after the tan.

  • Sun Protection: Remind clients that spray tans do not protect against UV rays. SPF is still a must.

Spray Tan Safety Tips: A Professional’s Guide for Client & Spray Tan Artist

Author | Darlene Clattenburg | August 2, 2025

Why Safety Equals Stunning Results:

Safety isn’t just a checklist—it’s the foundation of your professionalism. By following strict safety protocols, selecting high-quality products, and emphasizing proper aftercare, mobile spray tan artists can deliver safe, beautiful, and repeatable results every time.

Remember: safety first, glow second!

By embracing these spray tanning safety measures—especially in a mobile setting—you not only protect your clients’ skin but also elevate your reputation as a skilled, responsible, and sought-after spray tan artist.

Now Let's Talk About You!- The Mobile Spray Tan Artist:

  • Tell another person your clients address, time of appointment and expected finish time. You will then contact that person with the appropriate "Code Word" that you are safe.
  • If you do not use the "Code Word" - Your person moves into "Plan Mode".
  • Place your car keys in a spot that will be easy to grab - don't worry about equipment - it is replaceable - You are not!   [I still do this]
  • Preferably, keep your phone on you. Great to take a before & after picture. Turn on your phones "Safety App". Press record until you feel safe.
  • Park your car in a way that it is easy and fast to leave. Hook up a 360 camera [if possible]
  • Have a person travel with you to your appointment.

Building Your Personal Spray Tan Brand: Why It Matters (and How It Affects Your Prices)

Building Your Personal Spray Tan Brand: Why It Matters (and How It Affects Your Prices)
spray tan, https://www.liquidsunshinetans.com
Author | Darlene Clattenburg | Liquid Sunshine Spray Tan | August 9, 2025

Discover how building your personal spray tan brand can help you stand out, attract loyal clients, and charge premium prices. Tips for aspiring spray tan artists to grow their business and income.

Why Your Personal Spray Tan Brand Is the Key to Success:

If you want to go from “side hustle” to full-time spray tan boss, you need more than flawless technique—you need a brand.

Your personal spray tan brand is what sets you apart, creates trust, and ultimately lets you raise your prices. Without it, you’ll always be competing on discounts instead of building a profitable, sustainable business.

What Is a Personal Spray Tan Brand?

Your brand isn’t just a cute logo or Instagram feed (though those help). It’s the feeling and reputation you create around your business. It sets you apart from other like businesses.

A strong personal brand includes:

  • The way you show up online and in person

  • The story behind why you spray tan

  • The client experience from booking to bronzing

  • Your professionalism, consistency, and vibe

Bottom line: your brand is your business personality. And it’s what clients are really paying for.

How Branding Impacts Spray Tan Prices:

Here’s the truth bomb: people don’t just pay for a spray tan, they pay for how your brand makes them feel.

✨ A budget brand attracts bargain hunters.
✨ A professional brand attracts loyal clients.
✨ A luxury brand attracts brides and special events (the clients who pay premium prices without blinking).

Same skill. Different brand. Totally different income.

Spray tan pricing by brand level:

  • Beginner brand: $30–$40 per tan

  • Growing brand: $50–$65 per tan

  • Established brand: $70–$100+ per tan

Your spray tanning technique doesn’t change—but your brand perception does.

5 Steps to Build Your Spray Tan Brand (and Charge More):

  1. Define your vibe. Are you luxury and glam? Or fun and approachable? Choose and stick with it across everything you do.

  2. Show up online. Keep your Instagram, website, and Google listing clean, professional, and consistent.

  3. Focus on client experience. From first inquiry to aftercare, make every touchpoint feel intentional and elevated.

  4. Put your face in your brand. Share your story and your “why.” People connect with people, not just tans.

  5. Raise your prices with confidence. When your brand backs it up, clients happily pay more.

The Glow-Up Truth:

Boss lady real talk: your personal brand is the difference between charging drugstore prices and designer prices.

Build your brand intentionally and you’ll attract better clients, set stronger prices, and grow a spray tan business that gives you financial freedom and a lifestyle you love.

✨ Remember: you’re not just selling spray tans—you’re selling confidence, trust, and a luxury experience. The stronger your brand, the higher your prices can climb.
